The exhibition was delayed in its opening due to building remodelling. You can see the show on April 9th, with an opening on the 13th. Unfortunately I won't be able to attend, but I hope you will get into Phili and experience the overwhelming fiber art being exhibited during the Fiber Philadelphia Biennial!!

Other news: submissions for "Nifty" are rolling in - still looking for more! I'm excited with what I've seen so far. There are lots of great fiber artists out there!

The artist discussion with Jason Paradis for "The Visual Dynamic" went great, as did the opening. I'll hopefully run up there this weekend and get pics, which I will post here! Jason is a very generous artist, kind and perceptive. I was thrilled to be showing next to such great work, and now I am excited to know such a terrific person as well! I hope you'll check out his site, here.

Also, a want to give a BIG thanks to the Textile Art Center in Minnesota, Joetta Maue, Jenny Hart, Faythe Levine, Mr X Stitch, and many of my other friends and colleagues for sharing the Kickstarter project and the "Nifty" call for entries! It has been a tremendous help! You are all awesome!

Upcoming shows and news!

Hello!

So March is shaping up to be a fairly busy month for me, and I'm pretty excited! The Kickstarter fundraiser for Be Nice. Guide to Farting and Pooping is wrapping up on March 22nd and then I'll start sending out the brochure to all the project's generous supporters! I can't wait!

And today the website AllOverAlbany.com featured an article written by the very lovely Liz Clancy Lerner called "Be Nice. Please." I am very pleased with the article and had a blast doing the interview with Liz!

Also coming up is an exhibition of my work along a wonderful artist, Jason Paradis, at the Saratoga Arts gallery in Saratoga Springs, NY! I am thrilled to be showing with Jason Paradis--his work is excellent! I'll be showing a number of the new work I've made, and I am particularly looking forward to hearing people's thoughts on them at the opening and artist talk April 2nd. The show runs through the end of May. Find out more about "The Visual Dynamic" here.

And on March 25th, I have the pleasure of participating in an excellent exhibition curated by Yaminay Chaudhri called, "Failure." But of course not everything in the show is a failure, though it deals with it in some way! I am showing an unfinished drawing, as well as excerpts from a number of my journals from grad school. Also included in the exhibition is a group of works by several 7th grade students from Brooklyn, NY who embroidered personally significant phrases as an art project (inspired by Be Nice.). I am very excited to have the students receive such recognition for the extraordinary effort they showed in making their projects! See more of their work here, and learn more about the gallery here.

Alright! Now off to finish a free form embroidery! You'll see two brand new ones very soon on this site!

I hope you'll check it out here. The part on Be Nice. talks a bit about the project as a whole (info you might not hear elsewhere), and also covers bits about the Kickstarter project for the poo pamphlet I have currently going. (The Be Nice. part starts around 40 minutes in, but I recommend you subscribe to the pod if you love stitching. It's a great resource and entertaining!)
