Embroidery
Historically an abstract painter, in 2008 I began embroidering – first on painted canvas, but quickly moving to fabric. While I was building the Be Nice. Project and Dream Home Sweet Home series, I experimented with thread to create a language of marks that would find itself in future work.
“Free Form” was a brief series in which I treated the images like I would a canvas: beginning with a gesture, color, or shape, and then responding and building upon it to form a composition.
